Cycling Tours FAQ's
With the Après Vélo Cycle Tour, you will always have at least one ride guide on the road with the group. Depending upon the group size, there may be two ride guides. We understand that everyone has different levels of fitness and therefore we often break into two groups, with a ride guide leading each group. Our rides are further enhanced with a support vehicle to provide mechanical help as and when needed, provide hydration and nutrition or just a cosy place to rest up in case of that dreaded bonk.
We have access to a wide range of good quality carbon road bikes, as well as gravel, commuter and mountain bikes for hire. If you would like to rent a bike, please let us know when you book your trip, so we can discuss your specific requirements and guarantee the right size, gearing and specs are available. Upon booking, please also send us your fit measurements, so our mechanics can set up the bike for you, ready for the start of your trip.
We believe that accommodation authentic to the region plays an important part in your overall enjoyment of a trip. We also have steered clear from hotel accommodation, in an endeavour to provide a home away from home, in intimate and private surroundings to help you escape the stresses of everyday life. As such we have selected an authentic 15th Century Spanish Castle Villa to be our home for the week, that has recently been internally renovated to provide, contemporary luxe accommodation with a limited number of rooms to enhance a boutique tour experience. Beautifully restored 8 large bedrooms, purpose-built bar and TV room, indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, roof terraces, patios, large swimming pool, expansive gardens. There is no better way to capture the essence of Spain in these beautiful surroundings in a quite countryside location, yet 5-minute drive to the nearest swimming beach. This eclectic experience brings together the beauty of ancient, historic Spain with comfortable and spacious accommodation.
From our Villa we have easy accessibility to all our rides, a great advantage of being based in one location throughout the tour.
Our tour price is priced based on double occupancy. A Single Occupancy is an additional charge (speak to us when booking) that secures a private room for solo travelers. If you are traveling alone and would prefer a roommate, please notify us when booking. Although we cannot guarantee a match, we will make every effort to pair you with another solo traveler in order to waive the Single Occupancy charge.
Après Vélo literally translated means AFTER BIKE, and as such, The Après Vélo Cycle Tour is not just about the ride.
Our philosophy is that the journey continues long after the wheels stop spinning.
As such, we have been motivated to design a tour that includes many off-the-bike activities to help you appreciate the region, its people and culture. You will also have free time post-ride and your choice of activities can also include massages, visiting day spa’s, food tours, fishing charters, golf, shopping, or just chill by the pool at your Castle Villa…. the list is endless.
APRÈS VÉLO ENCOURAGES AND WELCOMES NON-RIDING PARTNERS TO ATTEND OUR CYCLING TOUR OF MALLORCA
We understand and recognise that for many, an overseas trip is part of a shared dream. It is for this very reason, that we have designed our boutique Mallorca trip to cater equally for riders and their non riding partners. During the booking process, we communicate with each of our non-riding guests to identify if there are any specific requests that cater for their interests.
As part of the Après Vélo Cycling Tour experience, non-riding partners will be personally hosted daily by Naomi, with a select range of activities designed to showcase the best that Mallorca has to offer. Naomi's affinity towards Mallorca and her love of the local cuisine, shopping and surroundings will be sure to inspire.
Options for consideration are truly plentiful, some of which can be viewed here.
We ask all customers to pay a deposit of £750 when they book, which confirms their reservation. The balance is due 120 days before departure. If you book less than 90 days before departure, we will ask you to pay the full price upfront.
Cancellations may occur. However, the boutique nature of our tour keeps our groups small and intimate, so this is unlikely. If we do have to cancel a tour due to some unforeseen circumstances, we will naturally provide you with plenty of notice, a full refund of all monies paid, plus a £125 credit to use on another Après Vélo trip departing in the next 2 years. However, we will not be liable for any flight or insurance costs you have incurred (therefore it's a requirement that you arrange insurance as soon as you have booked your trip).
It's essential that insurance is taken out for your tour to Mallorca at the time of booking, as this will then cover you immediately, should anything occur between the time you book and departure/return.
Yes, it is a requirement that you provide a medical certificate to be eligible to ride on our Mallorca trip. We will provide you with the appropriate documentation when you book. We believe this is mostly for your protection and is good practice to undertake prior to any cycling trip.
100%. We cherish the opportunity of designing bespoke tours for groups of friends, corporate clients, teams and families. Anything is possible in terms of the amount of riding you want to do, to the amount of post ride activity you’re interested in, accommodation style and any budget restraints you may have – whatever your timing and interests, please talk to us.
